Alexander Votes to Confirm Robert King to Serve as Assistant Secretary at the Department of Education

WASHINGTON, July 11, 2019 — U.S. Senate education committee Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement after voting to confirm Robert King to serve as Assistant Secretary for Postsecondary Education at the Department of Education:

“Mr. King is well-prepared to oversee the higher education programs at the Department of Education, having effectively served in leadership roles at institutions of higher education and having overseen postsecondary programs at the state level in Kentucky. I look forward to working with him in his new role as Congress works to update the Higher Education Act this year to help ensure that college students are earning degrees worth their time and money.”


The Senate education committee first approved Mr. King’s nomination on November 29, 2018. The Senate today confirmed Mr. King by a vote of 56-37.
