Senator Alexander Announces Memphis Office And Staff

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander today announced that his Memphis office is up and running and has named Deborah Sturdivant as constituent services representative and Lora Jobe as his field representative. "Deborah and Lora will be outstanding representatives for me in Memphis," Alexander said. "They will serve the people of Shelby County and West Tennessee well, and I am glad to have the office open for business." Before joining Alexander's staff, Sturdivant, 39, served as training and employment manager at Southwest Tennessee Community College in Memphis for two years. Prior to that, she served as the Director of Personnel for the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. She has also worked as the career center director for Jackson State Community College and for ten years served as Director of Student Services at Tennessee Technology Center at Jackson. "It is an honor to have been selected to serve the citizens of Shelby County and West Tennessee," Sturdivant said. "I look forward to representing Senator Alexander's goals and initiatives for Tennessee to the communities throughout this region." A Brownsville native, Sturdivant earned a bachelor of science in business administration from the Lane College in Jackson and studied human resources development at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Jobe, 45, serves as commissioner on the Memphis Board of Education. She also serves on the board of directors for the Tennessee Legislative Network and the Tennessee School Board Association. For three years she was the sole proprietor of Toothfairy Designs and has also worked as a registered nurse at the Medical College of Virginia in both obstetrics and oncology. "I am excited to be a part of Senator Alexander's staff and look forward to serving him and the people of Tennessee," Jobe said. Jobe earned an arts and sciences degree from Bluefield College in Bluefield, Virginia. She received a bachelor of science in nursing at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Lora and her husband, Mark, live in Memphis with their three children, Sarah, Lisa and Mark. Jobe assumes her post February 28, and Sturdivant begins March 4.
