WASHINGTON - The Omnibus Appropriations Conference Report includes $2 million for acquisition of land to be part of the Fiery Gizzard Trail near Monteagle and Tracy City. Upon passage, Sen. Bill Frist said: "I'm proud that the Omnibus Conference Report will provide funding to acquire land for the Fiery Gizzard Trail," said Frist.  "The protection of the Fiery Gizzard Trail is a testament to the people of Tennessee and all those who understand the importance of preserving our state's most treasured natural resources." Sen. Lamar Alexander said: Funding for the Fiery Gizzard Trail happened because of the efforts of the late Marvin Runyon and the respect that members of Congress have for him. This is a tribute to his leadership to save the Fiery Gizzard, which is an environmental treasure of Tennessee.
