U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement regarding President Obama’s troop withdrawal plan:
"Ironically, the President's plan to end the war in Iraq is consistent with the recommendations the Iraq Study Group made in 2005. A large bipartisan group of us supported a resolution endorsing those recommendations, but President Bush wouldn't support it, and the Democratic leadership wouldn't allow a vote. If they had, the war might have been more successful, and even come to an end sooner."
