Statement of U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander on Nomination of TVA Board Members

The Tennessee Valley Authority is a $7 billion dollar public utility that should be run like a $7 billion business with an experienced part-time board of directors and a professional, full-time chief executive officer. Today, President Bush nominated five experienced individuals to the board, which is a good beginning. I look forward to meeting with each of them soon to discuss TVA’s future, and I hope the President will send up the other two names as soon as possible.
