Now is the time for all of us to support President Bush and our troops. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the men and women of the Armed Forces and their families. Many Tennesseans have answered the call to serve in this time of need. Twenty thousand men and women from Fort Campbell have been deployed to the vicinity of Iraq, as have another 1,000 active duty military personnel from across the state. Also, more than 4,000 Tennesseans from more than 80 Reserve and National Guard units have been called up — units like the 134th Air Refueling Wing from McGhee Tyson; K Company, 3rd Battalion, 23rd Marines in Memphis; and the 3397th US Army Garrison of Chattanooga. They are protecting us from a looming threat, and we will be forever grateful to them. The president has made a commitment to help rebuild Post-Saddam Iraq; I'm making a commitment to stand by our troops during that process. Once we've won the war, we need to make sure we win the peace in Iraq and at home.
