I am pleased that the Army is changing its policy on soldier relocation to extend the time a soldier can stay at the same post. This is good for troop training, and it is even better for family life. I heard a lot about this issue during hearings I held last year on the challenges facing military families. Reducing the number of times a military family moves stabilizes that family, gives children continuity in their education, and supports spouses who have careers. It also encourages the family to become more of a part of the community. I look forward to continue working with the Department of Defense to support our soldiers and their families.
