U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement regarding his vote to extend unemployment benefits to workers in Tennessee and to expand the first-time homebuyer tax credit: “This legislation provides up to 20 additional weeks of unemployment benefits for Tennesseans at a time when Tennessee’s unemployment rate has been at its highest levels in more than a quarter century. This bill also extends and expands the $8,000 tax credit for first-time homebuyers, which will continue to provide a much-needed boost to the housing market and the economy.”
