Posted on June 16, 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C., June 16, 2016 – U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement on the passing of Lee Anderson, former publisher of the Chattanooga Times Free Press and, according to the paper, “one of the longest-serving newspapermen in the nation”:

“I never knew a more principled or hardworking newspaperman than Lee Anderson. He was usually in his office at the Free Press at 4 a.m. pounding out conservative editorials. He was unfailingly polite and professional. It was a privilege to know him and to read his tightly written opinions. He made an enormous contribution to Chattanooga and to Tennessee.”
