WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement:
“Chairman Inouye and Senator Cochran have told me that the Supplemental Appropriations bill will include emergency funds to address the unprecedented flooding in Tennessee. I’m still working with them and other senators on what the final numbers will be when the Senate Appropriations Committee meets tomorrow afternoon.
“The president has sent a request for emergency funding for the Gulf oil spill and I hope he will do the same for the unprecedented flooding in Tennessee before the Appropriations Committee meets tomorrow afternoon to act on his request.”
The Senate Appropriations Committee, of which Sen. Alexander is a member, meets tomorrow (Thursday, May 13th) at 3:30 p.m. to consider a Supplemental Appropriations bill that includes funding for Iraq, Afghanistan and disaster relief.
