Statement of U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) Announcement of the Resignation of Ambassador John Bolton, U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations

Posted on December 4, 2006

“John Bolton is a frank-talking diplomat who has served our nation admirably at the United Nations. It’s troubling that such an able public servant could not be confirmed by the Senate, despite enjoying the support of a majority of Senators.” John Bolton was not confirmed by the U.S. Senate, even though 56 Senators voted to advance his nomination on a procedural vote in May of last year.
