WASHINGTON, December 21, 2018 — United States Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement after President Trump signed the First Step Act, bipartisan prison reform legislation he cosponsored that was introduced by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa):

“This new law will help improve the federal criminal justice system and reform federal prisons.
