Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued the following statement today after his votes against the Kerry and Levin amendments regarding the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq: “We all want our brave men and women home as soon as possible. But to set an arbitrary date for withdrawal would be a mistake because it would undermine the new Iraqi government just as it’s getting on its feet and strengthen the terrorists’ resolve to wait out the Americans.”
