WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement regarding his vote against cutting off debate on the Extenders bill, which would add $34 billion to the federal debt.

“I have voted three times to extend unemployment insurance without adding to the debt, and I hope to do so again this week.  But I will not vote for an extension that adds to the alarming federal debt that we are passing along to our children and grandchildren.”
