WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker, both R-Tenn., today praised Nissan’s announcement of 900 new jobs at the company’s Smyrna manufacturing plant, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary.
“When Nissan came to Tennessee we had high hopes, and 30 years later it has meant more than 7,000 good-paying jobs and the growth of an auto sector that now accounts for one-third of the manufacturing jobs in the state,” said Alexander. “Governor Haslam, Nissan leadership and Nissan workers all deserve our thanks for Nissan’s continuing role as a growing source of economic activity for Tennesseans.”
“Nissan’s decision to create 900 new jobs in Smyrna as they celebrate 30 years in Tennessee is outstanding news and a credit to everyone who has contributed to the tremendous climate for business in our state,” said Corker.
