“Growing up in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, I’ve appreciated the beauty of our planet my entire life. Earth Day is a good time to focus our energy and attentions on what we can do to take care of this great blessing. “This week, I introduced the Clean Air/Climate Change Act -- legislation to reduce air pollution and the threat of global warming by enacting strict standards on four major pollutants from power plants. It is time to acknowledge that climate change is real, that human activity is a big part of the problem and that it is up to us to act. I hope this legislation will help the United States take a leading role in preserving our health, preserving our jobs and preserving our planet.”
