WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb. 17, 2017 — United States Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement on his vote to confirm Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt to serve as the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):

"I look forward to working with Mr. Pruitt to make sure federal policies put nuclear power on a level playing field, especially since nuclear power produces 60 percent of our country’s pollution-free, carbon-free electricity. I have also talked with him about the importance of clean air to Tennesseans' jobs, health, and tourism – and I look forward to working with him as Tennessee’s metropolitan areas all continue to make significant progress in improving air quality."

Alexander met with Pruitt on January 4.
