ALEXANDER STATEMENT ON NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY

Posted on September 29, 2006

U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) made the following statement today recognizing September 30, 2006, the 13th annual National Public Lands Day: “Growing up in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, I learned to appreciate our national parks and public places at an early age,” said Alexander. “National Public Lands Day will help restore and renew these special places through the work of dedicated volunteers. I applaud the efforts of the communities that are blazing trails, planting gardens, and cleaning streams in Tennessee and across the country today. I hope we continue to respect, protect and clean our public lands throughout the year.”
