Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) Comment on Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Report

Posted on February 2, 2007

"This new report confirms the scientific consensus that human activity is having a significant influence on global temperature increases,” said Alexander. “This is the year for Congress to take an important first step on climate change by establishing a market-based system of greenhouse gas permits that would control carbon dioxide produced by power plants.” Alexander is a member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and the Ranking Republican on the Public Sector Solutions to Global Warming, Oversight and Children’s Health Protection Subcommittee.
