Posted on September 3, 2015

Maryville, Tenn., Sept. 3 –Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement on the announcement by House Education and Workforce Committee Chairman John Kline (R-Minn.) that he will retire at the end of this Congress:

“Chairman Kline has served in Vietnam, carried the nuclear football, served two presidents, and is now on track to help turn into law one of the most important pieces of education legislation Congress could pass – restoring control of education of our nation’s 50 million public school students to their teachers and parents and reversing the trend toward a national school board. He is a great partner in fighting Washington overreach into our workplaces and our schools, and I look forward to achieving much more with him over the next 16 months.”
