Japanese auto supplier announces $190 million investment in Athens facility

WASHINGTON, February 28, 2018 – United States Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement after Denso manufacturing announced it will invest another $190 million and create 320 new jobs in Athens, Tenn.:

“Today’s announcement by Denso, a Japanese auto parts supplier, that it’s adding 320 new jobs for Tennesseans is another success story for our state’s auto industry. Denso, which already has more than 5,000 employees statewide, is one of nearly 1,000 auto suppliers that have made Tennessee the top automotive manufacturing state in the country.  Tennessee’s workforce, central location, our right-to-work law, our top-notch roads, and our state leadership have all contributed to Tennessee’s ability to create and expand good paying automotive jobs.”
