KINGSPORT, Oct. 22, 2014 - U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today attended a Topping Out ceremony at Eastman Chemical Company, where Alexander and Eastman executives commemorated the completion of the Corporate Business Center’s steelwork, the latest milestone in the company’s expansion of their corporate headquarters in Kingsport, Tenn.
“Eastman has renewed its commitment to thousands of families in Upper East Tennessee. We are fortunate to have this global company improving the region and boosting the local economy,” said Alexander. “This expansion and the company’s continued investment in Tennessee further show that Eastman and the good jobs it is creating are right where they ought to be.”
The Corporate Business Center is part of “Project Inspire,” a $1.6 billion investment in Eastman’s Kingsport site that will add at least 300 jobs over the next seven years. Kingsport is the headquarters of Eastman’s global operations and employs approximately 7,000 people in Northeast Tennessee.
