WASHINGTON, D.C., January 10, 2018 — United States Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement on his vote to confirm Tommy Parker to serve as a U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Tennessee:

“I’m glad the Senate has confirmed Tommy Parker to serve as a U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Tennessee.  I joined Sen. Corker in recommending Mr. Parker because of his broad experience and his reputation among his peers as one of Memphis’ finest attorneys. Prior to his nomination, Parker served for nearly a decade as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee. He earned his law degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law. He also served as president of the Shelby County Bar Association.

“I will push to secure confirmation as soon as possible of a second presidential nominee, Tennessee Senate Majority Leader Mark Norris, who already has been approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee.”
