Alexander Votes to “Extend, Update Highway Program Without Increasing Federal Debt”

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement on his vote for a two-year extension of the Highway bill, which funds federal roads and other surface transportation projects:

“I learned as governor how important good four-lane highways are to auto jobs in Tennessee. Today I voted to extend and update the highway program for two years without increasing the federal debt.”

The Senate passed the bill by a vote of 74-22.
