Alexander Statement on Breast Cancer Screening Amendments

Posted on December 3, 2009

U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement regarding his votes on two amendments dealing with breast cancer screening that were offered to the health care bill: “I voted for the Murkowski amendment because it would have allowed women’s doctors to establish the best guidelines for coverage of breast cancer screenings instead of placing the decision in the hands of yet another government bureaucracy like the Mikulski amendment does. Women and their doctors should be making these important decisions, not Washington bureaucrats.”
