Alexander Statement on Supplemental Appropriations Bill

Posted on May 21, 2009

U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement regarding his vote for the Supplemental Appropriations Act (H.R. 2346): “This legislation will fund our troops fighting the Afghanistan and Iraq wars—wars in which over 15,000 Tennesseans have served bravely over the past eight years. The Senate was exactly right to reject funding in the bill for the closure of Guantanamo Bay until the administration provides a plan for its dangerous detainees.”
