WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today congratulated Volkswagen on its Chattanooga plant being the first auto assembly plant in the world to receive platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design green building certification program.
“Over the past 30 years, Tennessee has become the new hub for the American auto industry. Now it also is home to the first-ever platinum LEED certified auto-assembly plant, showing that a car company can lead in both making good cars and preserving the environment.”
