Auto company says it will add approximately 650 new jobs at its Spring Hill plant
WASHINGTON, D.C., Oct. 11, 2016 – U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today made the following statement after General Motors (GM) announced it will add approximately 650 jobs at its Spring Hill plant.
"Thirty-one years after GM chose to locate a plant in Tennessee from among 38 states, the Spring Hill plant is proving that GM made exactly the right decision: Tennessee is still the best place in the country for auto jobs. I congratulate GM and its Spring Hill employees on this great news."
The Spring Hill plant first opened in 1990.
Tennessee continues to be recognized for its automotive sector. According to the Tennessee Department of Economic Development, there are more than 900 automotive suppliers spread across 80 of Tennessee’s 95 counties. In 2015, Business Facilities ranked Tennessee No. 1 for Automotive Manufacturing Strength for the 5th time in six years.
