Alexander: “Congress Should Be Making it Easier for the Private Sector to Create Jobs, Not Making it More Expensive to Do Business with Government”

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) released the following statement about his vote to repeal a requirement for government entities to withhold 3% of payments to vendors for federal income tax purposes:

“At a time when Congress should be making it easier and cheaper to create jobs, it makes no sense for the government to make it more expensive for companies to do business with local, state and federal governments by imposing an unnecessary burden that could cost nearly 10 times more to collect than it actually raises in revenue.”
