U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) has been named a "Hero of the Taxpayer" by Americans for Tax Reform (ATR). The taxpayer advocacy organization presents the award to members of Congress who vote with taxpayers on 85 percent of the issues tracked by ATR. “I appreciate this recognition from Americans for Tax Reform,” said Alexander. “I was proud to side with taxpayers on key votes before the U.S. Senate, and I’ll continue to support the kind of fiscal responsibility Tennesseans expect.” Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) is a non-partisan coalition of taxpayers and taxpayer groups who oppose all federal, state and local tax increases. For 2005, it rated Senate roll call votes on tax cuts, spending control, property rights and free trade.
