U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today made the following statement upon voting to confirm David Ogden as Deputy Attorney General: “I would not have chosen Mr. Ogden for the number-two job at the justice department, but as Chief Justice John Roberts said during his confirmation hearing, ‘The principle that you don’t identify the lawyer with the particular views of the client or the views that the lawyer advances on behalf of a client is critical to the fair administration of justice.’”
