Alexander on Vote to Tax Small Business Owners: “That Doesn’t Sound Like a Jobs Bill to Me”

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) released the following statement tonight on his vote against raising taxes on 300,000 small businesses, which was proposed by the Senate majority as a way to create jobs:

“Four out of every five Americans who would pay higher taxes are small business owners – that doesn’t sound like a jobs bill to me. Congress can take steps right now to help the millions of Americans suffering to find good private-sector jobs by reforming our tax and regulatory systems to free up businesses to hire, and starting on entitlement reform to lower our job-killing debt.”
