Alexander: “The Senate Majority Voted Down a Real Jobs Bill”

Posted on November 10, 2011

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement about his vote for an amendment offered by Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.), based on the Jobs Through Growth Act introduced by Senators McCain, Rob Portman (R-Ohio), and Rand Paul (R-Ky.).

“Today, the Senate Majority voted down a real jobs bill, one that would make it easier and cheaper for the private sector to create jobs by simplifying the tax code, getting rid of bad regulations that make it harder for businesses to hire, and reducing Washington’s spending.”

The amendment would have reduced restrictions on domestic energy production, repealed the new health care law and Dodd-Frank regulatory reform, as well as reformed the tax code and placed a moratorium on new regulations.
