MARYVILLE, Tenn., July 1, 2019 – U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement in celebration of Independence Day this coming Thursday:

“The Fourth of July is a time to remember how privileged we are to be Americans, to be a part of this remarkable country that we too often take for granted, and to remember the men and women who today are serving our country, helping us keep the freedoms we’ve had for so many years,” Alexander said. “And the Fourth of July is also a time to have fun. In the Alexander family, we load the grandkids into our old Volkswagen, decorate it in red, white and blue, and drive it around West Miller’s Cove in the Fourth of July parade. I hope you have a great Fourth of July with your family.”
