U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today made the following statement regarding General Motors’ (GM) sale of Saturn to the Penske Automotive Group:
“Selling Saturn is one step in restructuring GM. An even more important step would be to give all the stock the government owns in GM to the 120 million American taxpayers who paid for it. This would get the Washington politicians out of GM’s hair and give it a chance to make a success of designing, building and selling cars and trucks.
“I’m not surprised Penske wants Saturn. I drive a 2007 Saturn Aura, which was the North American Car of the Year. For 20 years, Saturn attracted auto jobs to Tennessee. I’m glad to see the good news about its future.”
