Alexander Supports Reducing the Senate’s Own Budget

Posted on March 16, 2011

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today issued the following statement on his vote for legislation expressing the sense of the Senate that the Senate should reduce its own operating budget by 5 percent:

“Congress needs to look at every part of the federal government’s budget and find areas to reduce spending—and that includes finding ways to lower costs in our own Senate offices.”

The amendment, which was introduced by Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) to the pending small business bill, was agreed to by a vote of 98-1.
