Alexander Statement on Air Force Plans for Memphis, Nashville Guard Units

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement on the release of a white paper by the Air Force detailing plans to bring eight C-17 airplanes to Memphis in fiscal year 2013, and to establish an unmanned aircraft squadron in Nashville:

“The white paper is an encouraging recognition that the Tennessee Air National Guard bases in Memphis, Nashville, and Knoxville are crucial to our country's readiness even as the strategies of the Air Force change.”
