Alexander Statement on Senate Confirmation Vote for Judge Donald to Serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit Set for September 6th

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today issued the following statement on the Senate vote to confirm U.S. District Court Judge Bernice Donald to serve on the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, which has been scheduled for September 6:

“I am glad that the Majority Leader has scheduled a vote to confirm Judge Donald as soon as the Senate returns from its recess. In nearly 30 years on the bench as a state and federal judge, Judge Donald has built an extensive record of community service and personal achievement.”

For the last 15 years, Judge Donald has served on the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. Donald was the first African American woman to serve as a District Court Judge in Tennessee.
