U.S. Senators Lamar Alexander (R-TN) and Bob Corker (R-TN) and U.S. Representative Bart Gordon (D-TN) today recognized Lochinvar Corporation, headquartered in Lebanon, Tennessee, for being selected as one of fifteen businesses nationwide to receive the 2008 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award. The Freedom Award is the highest recognition given by the U.S. Government to employers for supporting their employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve. “The men and women of the Tennessee National Guard and Reserve have represented our state with distinction both here at home and around the world,” Sen. Lamar Alexander said. “I commend Lochinvar for its exceptional support of workers who serve in the Guard and the Reserve – as well as their families – so that these brave men and women can serve our country without having to worry about their job security back home.” “Our National Guard and Reserve members are vital to America’s national security - living and working among us, but always prepared to answer the call of duty. Companies like Lochinvar provide them and their families with job security and the peace of mind that they will be taken care of during and after deployments,” Sen. Bob Corker said. “I appreciate the Department of Defense for recognizing employers who place a special emphasis on supporting the important work of their National Guard and Reserve employees and their families.” “Tennessee’s military members, Reservists and their families sacrifice much when they answer the country’s call to service. I commend companies like Lochinvar that provide for employees and their families when they are deployed. This award is certainly deserved,” U.S. Rep. Bart Gordon said. The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense agency established in 1972, instituted The Freedom Award in 1996 to recognize exceptional support from the employer community. Employers from across the country are nominated for the award by National Guard and Reserve members and a national selection board, comprised of senior Defense officials and business leaders, picks the recipients.
