Alexander Opposes Repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement regarding his vote against bringing legislation to repeal the military’s so-called “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy to the Senate floor for debate:

“I voted against repeal because too many military leaders still have too many concerns about how changing this policy would affect recruitment, retention, morale and combat readiness at a time when we’re fighting two wars.”
