WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, today released the following statement on the president’s nomination of Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court:

“I will carefully consider the president's nomination. I voted against Elena Kagan for Solicitor General because I was deeply troubled by her aggressive opposition to allowing military recruiters at Harvard Law School when she was its dean.”
