Posted on July 19, 2011

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today announced that he supports a debt-reduction plan being worked on by Senators Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.), Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) , Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Kent Conrad (D-N.D.) and Mark Warner (D-Va.) that would reduce federal spending by $500 billion as a down payment to reduce the deficit and find almost $4 trillion in reductions over the next ten years:

“This is a serious, bipartisan proposal that will help stop Washington from spending money we don't have, and I support it.”
