Alexander Statement on Return of Bishop Graves to TVA Board

U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today made the following statement after the swearing in of Bishop William Graves to the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Board of Directors: “I’m glad that Bishop Graves has finally started working for TVA again after the hold-up here in the Senate by the Democratic leader,” said Alexander. “After twelve years on the Memphis Light, Gas and Water board, and as the only Memphian and only African-American ever to serve on the TVA board, he will continue to serve our region well. I’m disappointed that the Democratic leader continues to block the confirmation of Susan Williams, who has also served on the board with distinction. I will continue working to see that the Senate fulfills its responsibility to confirm her as well.”
