U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement following the passage of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), H.R 5501:
“In 2003, I was proud to help pass legislation to address this crisis as chairman of the Africa subcommittee,” Alexander said. “I’m pleased that we are continuing our commitment to individuals across the globe who are struggling to combat HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.”
H.R. 5501 passed the Senate by a vote of 80 to 16.
