WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement regarding his vote for S.J. Res. 10, a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution that Alexander cosponsored along with every Republican senator:
“Washington has to stop spending money we don't have, so I am for cutting spending, capping what Congress can spend each year, and passing a Balanced Budget Amendment.”
Alexander voted against S. J. Res 24, a Democratic alternative proposal that would not cap spending and gives Congress less control over lowering taxes.
