Alexander Statement on Health Care Choices Proposal

Posted on June 20, 2018

WASHINGTON, June 20 – U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement on the Health Care Choices Proposal released today by the Health Policy Consensus Group:

“There are many good ideas in this proposal which would lower the cost of insurance for millions of Americans. As a former governor, I especially like the idea of taking at least the same amount of money and letting states make more decisions about lowering the cost of, and providing more choices for, health insurance. I like the expansion of health savings accounts and repeal of the employer mandate penalty. I’ll read the proposal carefully to see what effect it will have on Tennesseans and taxpayers generally. In my view, the final version of the proposal should not change existing federal protections for those with preexisting health conditions who seek to buy insurance.”
