Alexander: Bill Lee Has the Vision to Help Make Our State Even Better

Posted on January 19, 2019

NASHVILLE, Tenn., January 19, 2018 – United States Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement after Bill Lee was inaugurated as the 50th governor of Tennessee:

“Congratulations to Bill Lee on being inaugurated as governor of Tennessee. Being governor is a great job, but if your home state is Tennessee, being governor is the greatest job of all. Bill has a chance, and he’s said this, to build on a terrific legacy that Governor Bill Haslam has left over the past eight years. Whether it’s our children improving their learning in our schools more rapidly than any other state, whether it’s the first state to offer free community college, which Tennessee now does, or whether it’s continuing our efforts to be the number one auto state, Bill Lee has the capacity, intelligence and vision, I believe, to help make our state even better. So congratulations Bill Lee on a wonderful opportunity. We’re counting on you, and we’re proud of you.”

Alexander attended Lee’s inauguration ceremony today in Nashville.
